Chiba heavy rain causes widespread railway disruptions

Record-breaking heavy rainfall in Chiba Prefecture has caused widespread disruptions to railway services. As of August 14, multiple lines are experiencing cancellations or reduced service.

JR East reported that several lines, including the Uchibo, Sotobo, Kururi, and Togane lines, have suspended operations. The Kururi Line is expected to remain suspended for the entire day. Specific sections of the Sobu Main Line and Narita Line are also seeing service halts, with Narita Airport experiencing entry restrictions due to the impact. Limited express services such as the Narita Express, Sazanami, Wakashio, and Shiosai have been cancelled for the day.

Keisei Electric Railway has resumed service on the Keisei Main Line and Chiba/Chihara lines after initial morning suspensions, though some lines continue to operate with reduced frequency. Additionally, Keikyu Corporation reported service suspensions between Sengakuji and Shinagawa stations in Tokyo.
