Chiba heavy rain prompts LDP flood policy proposals and business aid

Following heavy rainfall in Chiba Prefecture, the Liberal Democratic Party has submitted a proposal to Prime Minister Takaichi requesting fiscal support and enhanced measures to address what they describe as a new stage of urban flooding. The party noted that current frameworks may be insufficient for these evolving weather patterns. Proposed countermeasures include deploying tow trucks nationwide to clear vehicles from roads, utilizing state-owned land for storage, installing rainwater storage facilities in urban areas like station rotundas, and providing financial aid for measures taken to prevent accidents in flooded underpasses.

In response to the disaster, the Sakura Chamber of Commerce and Industry is hosting a specialized consultation session on September 10. In collaboration with the Japan Finance Corporation Chiba Branch, the event aims to assist businesses affected by the Chiba heavy rains with recovery and operating funds. The session will provide individual consultations for business owners seeking loans for reconstruction or new business ventures.
