Chiba Prefectural Assembly opens September session with 38.2 billion yen budget proposal

The Chiba Prefectural Assembly has convened its September regular session, which is scheduled to run for 33 days until October 6. Governor Kumagai has submitted 27 bills, including a supplementary budget proposal totaling 38.218 billion yen.

The budget aims to address changes in industrial, medical, welfare, education, and disaster prevention sectors. Key initiatives include the establishment of a Regional Future Fund with 14.449 billion yen, decarbonization efforts for the Keiyo Coastal Industrial Complex, and projects to strengthen export infrastructure for strawberries via Narita Airport.

Governor Kumagai also addressed disaster response following heavy rains in Chiba and the Kumamoto earthquake, noting that additional budget proposals for flood recovery may follow. Furthermore, the Governor discussed the ongoing expansion of Narita Airport and the development of the Ken-O Expressway to improve regional connectivity and economic activity.
