Chiba Prefecture announces subsidies for small businesses affected by August 2026 heavy rains

Chiba Prefecture has launched a subsidy program to support the reconstruction of small businesses impacted by the heavy rains that occurred on August 13 and 14, 2026. The Chiba Prefecture Disaster-Affected Small Business Reconstruction Support Subsidy aims to cover costs related to facility repairs, machinery and equipment, and equipment disposal.

Eligible businesses must have locations within Chiba Prefecture. The subsidy provides up to 1 million yen, with a minimum of 100,000 yen, covering up to two-thirds of eligible expenses. Specific criteria for small businesses include having five or fewer employees in wholesale, retail, and service industries, or 20 or fewer employees in manufacturing, construction, and transport industries.

Applicants are required to seek support from local chambers of commerce and industry and must develop a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) or a business continuity strength reinforcement plan within one year of completing the project. Applications can be submitted electronically or by mail, with the first application deadline set for December 4, 2026.
