Chiba Prefecture Launches Cashless Payment Campaign with Up to 15% Refunds
From August 7 to August 30, Chiba Prefecture will run a cashless‑payment campaign covering the major mobile‑payment apps PayPay, d払い, au PAY and Rakuten Pay. Shoppers can receive a 10 % rebate on qualifying purchases, with an additional 5 % city‑level bonus in Chiba City, bringing the total possible refund to 15 %. The program is funded with a budget of about ¥50 billion and will end once the allocated amount is exhausted.
The same week (August 3‑9) Ichikawa City in Chiba reported a series of local events, including the opening of new stores and clinics, summer festivals, and a special "Ichikawa no Nashi" fruit fair. The cashless‑payment campaign is highlighted as a key attraction for residents and visitors during these events.
