Chiba prepares two major fireworks festivals for Aug 1 2026

On August 1, 2026, two large fireworks events will take place in Chiba Prefecture. The 42nd Ichikawa City Summer Fireworks Festival will be held on the Edo River embankment, featuring about 14,000 fireworks across seven programs, including a rapid opening of 1,000 shells in five seconds, a "Fuji" height display, a return of four‑core shells, and a finale of “怒涛の金カムロ.” The event offers free viewing areas, paid seating, food‑truck kiosks, traffic restrictions from 17:00‑22:00, and a live stream via J:COM and YouTube.

The 127th Mizuhō Omigawa Fireworks Festival in Katori City will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the city‑merger and will launch roughly 10,000 fireworks along the Tone River. The program includes a national fire‑cracker competition featuring precision “shaku‑tama” displays. The festival runs from 19:15 to 20:45, with traffic restrictions beginning at 17:00 and a contingency postponement to August 5 if weather forces cancellation.
