Chicago authorities investigate school shooting and funeral home discovery

Two cleaning workers were found shot to death on Monday at Mark Twain Elementary School in Chicago. The victims, a 48-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man, both sustained gunshot wounds to the head. Although they were initially transported to a hospital in critical condition, they were later pronounced dead. Chicago police recovered a firearm at the scene. No students were present in the building at the time of the incident.

In a separate investigation in South Chicago, authorities discovered between 56 and 57 human remains in various stages of decomposition at the South Chicago Chapel. Investigators also found over 50 improperly stored cremation urns. The facility, managed by Johanna and Clark Morgan, was reportedly operating without proper refrigeration, violating state regulations. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation has suspended Johanna Morgan’s funeral director license following the discovery, which was prompted by neighbor complaints regarding strong odors.
