Chicago Bears acquire DT Jeffery Simmons in blockbuster trade

The Chicago Bears have acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans in a historic trade. To secure the four-time Pro Bowler, Chicago is sending its 2027 and 2028 first-round draft picks, along with a 2027 fourth-round pick, to Tennessee. In return, the Bears also receive a 2028 fifth-round selection.

This transaction marks the first time since the common draft era began in 1967 that a defensive tackle has been traded for multiple first-round picks. The move is seen as a significant push by Bears general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson to bolster the team's interior defense and pursue a Super Bowl title.

Simmons, 29, has established himself as an elite disruptive force, leading all defensive tackles with 28 pressures this season. For the Titans, the trade provides significant draft capital to assist in their rebuilding process as they navigate a difficult 1-6 season.
