Chicago Bears activate Ozzy Trapilo from PUP list

The Chicago Bears have activated offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Trapilo is recovering from surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, an injury sustained during the team’s wild-card victory over the Green Bay Packers last season.

Trapilo’s return is ahead of the expected timeline, as he is only seven months removed from his surgery. His activation allows him to return to practice as the team continues to evaluate its depth at left tackle during training camp.

The move impacts the team's depth chart competition. Braxton Jones, who had been the frontrunner for the starting left tackle position while Trapilo was sidelined, may now move into a backup role. The return of Trapilo also places additional pressure on other players in the rotation, such as Kiran Amegadjie and Jedrick Wills, following their performances in the preseason opener.
