Chicago Bears bolster defensive line depth ahead of Jets matchup

The Chicago Bears are bolstering their defensive line depth ahead of their upcoming game against the New York Jets. Defensive end Marcus Davenport has been elevated from the practice squad to the main roster. Davenport, a former first-round pick, was previously released during final cuts to allow him time to reach full physical condition before being brought back to the team.

In addition to Davenport's elevation, the Bears have placed left tackle Braxton Jones on injured reserve due to a right knee injury.

As the November 10 trade deadline approaches, the Bears are also being advised to monitor potential acquisitions to strengthen their defensive front. Potential targets mentioned in league discussions include Washington Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne and Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher Alex Highsmith, as the team seeks to improve its interior defensive line and edge rushing consistency.
