Chicago Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon faces uncertain return due to injury

Chicago Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon remains sidelined due to a calf injury, leaving his recovery timeline uncertain. Gordon has missed the entire 2026 offseason program, including OTAs and minicamp, and began training camp on the active/PUP list.

Gordon, who signed a three-year extension last offseason making him the NFL’s highest-paid pure slot cornerback, missed 14 games last season due to soft-tissue injuries. Head coach Ben Johnson stated that it is “unknown” when the player will return to action. The situation is compounded by the fact that Gordon has not practiced this year, leading to questions regarding his availability for the start of the regular season.

The Bears' secondary faces additional challenges, as free agent addition Coby Bryant is also recovering from knee surgery. Gordon is under contract through 2028, and his $10 million base salary for the upcoming year has already vested.
