Chicago Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon misses return deadline

Chicago Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon has missed a deadline to return to practice, fueling speculation regarding his future with the franchise. Gordon, who began the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list due to a calf injury, was eligible to begin ramping up for a return this week alongside other players. However, he failed to report to the team.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson expressed frustration during a recent press conference, stating, “I’ve got nothing to add there,” when asked for an update on Gordon’s progress. This lack of communication follows previous reports of optimism regarding his recovery, which was being managed by his own trainer.

While Gordon remains sidelined, rookie cornerback Malik Muhammad has emerged as a replacement in the nickel role. Muhammad has recorded an interception and a sack in recent weeks, establishing himself as a key contributor to the defense during Gordon's absence.
