Chicago Bears defense faces injury challenges during training camp

The Chicago Bears are facing significant depth challenges in their defensive secondary due to a series of injuries during training camp. Cornerback Kyler Gordon has been sidelined with a soft-tissue injury, and the team is currently without Coby Bryant for an extended period. Additionally, Cam Lewis suffered an injury during recent activities.

As a result of these setbacks, rookie fourth-round pick Malik Muhammad has been integrated into first-team defensive drills at the nickel position. Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen noted that Muhammad will face significant challenges from opposing quarterbacks, stating, “The biggest challenge you’ve got is you got a big bull’s-eye on your back and they’re going to be coming after you.”

Beyond the secondary, the Bears' defensive roster is undergoing evaluation. Key players such as linebacker T. J. Edwards and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett remain central to the unit's structure, though the team faces concerns regarding depth at certain positions, particularly at defensive tackle.
