Chicago Bears evaluate defensive depth with Bishop and Davenport

The Chicago Bears are addressing defensive depth through both roster evaluation and potential veteran acquisitions. Cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. recorded two interceptions during a recent preseason game, yet head coach Ben Johnson indicated that such a performance does not guarantee him a permanent roster spot as he continues to learn the defensive system.

In an effort to bolster the pass rush, the Bears are also considering a visit from defensive end Marcus Davenport. Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, who previously worked with Davenport in New Orleans, aims to utilize him in a rotational role to manage his injury history while providing additional pressure alongside starters Montez Sweat and Austin Booker.
