Chicago Bears left tackle Braxton Jones injured in training camp

Braxton Jones entered the Chicago Bears' 2024 training camp as the clear favorite to win the left tackle job, earning the majority of first‑team reps and praise from offensive coordinator Press Taylor for his physicality and communication. During a one‑on‑one drill, Jones suffered an unspecified injury, showed visible pain, and left the practice field with trainer Andre Tucker, walking off under his own power but visibly upset.

With Jones sidelined, the Bears inserted 2024 third‑round pick Kiran Amegadjie at left tackle for the remainder of the session. Head coach Ben Johnson had hoped to determine the starter by the following week, and the injury adds uncertainty to the competition that also includes Jedrick Wills and Amegadjie.
