Chicago Bears release several players during 53-man roster cuts
The Chicago Bears have begun their roster reductions to meet the 53-man limit. Among the notable departures is linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II, a 2025 fourth-round pick. Hyppolite, who was selected despite not being an NFL Combine invitee, was waived with an injury designation following a shoulder injury sustained during a preseason game.
Additionally, the Bears waived undrafted free agent offensive lineman Caden Barnett. Despite receiving $277,500 in guaranteed money upon signing, the team expects Barnett to potentially re-sign with the practice squad. Other players released during this initial wave of cuts include offensive tackle Jedrick Wills, wide receivers JP Richardson and Scotty Miller, cornerback Terell Smith, and defensive back Anthony Johnson.
