Chicago Bears rookies Van Den Berg and Muhammad shine in preseason debut

Chicago Bears rookies Jordan Van Den Berg and Malik Muhammad delivered standout performances during the team’s preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns.

Van Den Berg, a sixth-round defensive tackle from Georgia Tech, recorded three quarterback pressures and a run stuff during his 16 defensive snaps. Despite his rookie status, he earned significant playing time against Cleveland's starters.

Cornerback Malik Muhammad also impressed, recording five tackles while playing in the nickel position. Muhammad is currently viewed as a potential starter for the upcoming season due to various injuries affecting the Bears' secondary, including soft-tissue concerns for Kyler Gordon and knee surgery for safety Coby Bryant.
