Chicago Bears target stronger pass rush and NFC Championship in 2026

The Chicago Bears entered the 2026 offseason after an 11‑6 record, a division title and a playoff win in 2025. Quarterback Caleb Williams, the former No. 1 overall pick, drew praise from analyst Emmanuel Acho, who said anything short of an NFC Championship would be a failure.

Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen kept the Bears in a 4‑3 scheme but the team’s pass rush remained a weakness. The Bears retained edge rusher Montez Sweat, who posted 10 sacks and 54 pressures last season, and added former Cleveland Browns linebacker Devin Bush. Returning from injury, Dayo Odeyingbo, a 6‑foot‑5 edge player, is expected to complement Sweat, while Austin Booker and Daniel Hardy provide depth. The secondary saw additions such as Coby Bryant and Dillon Thieneman, but the front seven received few new pieces.

Analysts note the NFC North is competitive, with the Eagles, 49ers, Rams and Seahawks also vying for the conference. The Bears aim to improve their pass rush and capitalize on Williams’ development to contend for the NFC Championship and a possible Super Bowl run.
