Chicago Bears work to boost Caleb Williams' accuracy with veteran guidance

The Chicago Bears are focusing on improving rookie quarterback Caleb Williams' completion rate, which sat at 58.1% last season. Coach Ben Johnson said the team will emphasize better footwork, timing and targeting running backs to raise the percentage, noting that “the biggest way his completion percentage goes up might simply be targeting” shorter throws. Williams added after minicamp, “For me it’s just get the completion percentage up.”

Veteran players are expected to help Williams stay steady. Wide receiver Kalif Raymond has been cited as a “steady veteran presence” for the Bears’ offense, while former starter Tyrod Taylor told quarterback Jordan Love, “Tyrod is a pro, he’s a vet, he’s been at it for a long time, so it’s nice to have a guy in the room that’s played a lot of ball.” The team hopes the mentorship will keep Williams “as stoic as possible” and aid his development throughout the 2026 season.
