Chicago Blackhawks debut new power-play look with rookie Roman Kantserov

The Chicago Blackhawks are implementing a new look for their power-play unit, featuring rookie Roman Kantserov in the bumper role. Kantserov, who previously played for Magnitogorsk in the KHL, brings experience playing in the middle of the offensive zone rather than on the flanks.

Coach Jeff Blashill noted that the bumper position requires specific movement around the slot and high situational awareness. Kantserov has observed that the speed and pressure of NHL penalty-killers differ significantly from those in the KHL. The new top unit also includes Bowen Byram, Patrick Kane, Anton Frondell, and Tyler Bertuzzi.
