Chicago Blackhawks sign veteran forward Patrick Kane to two-year deal

Veteran forward Patrick Kane, 37, has re‑joined the Chicago Blackhawks on a two‑year contract with an average annual value of $8 million. After three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings and a stint with the New York Rangers, Kane said he returned to help the Blackhawks reach the playoffs and mentor younger talent.

Kane is expected to play alongside young superstar centre Connor Bedard, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, and forward Frank Nazar. Management acknowledges the contract may be costly but hopes Kane's experience and chemistry with the emerging players will boost the team's postseason chances.
