Chicago Bulls honor late broadcaster Stacey King at season opener

The Chicago Bulls honored longtime franchise legend and broadcaster Stacey King during their season opener against the Toronto Raptors. To acknowledge King, who passed away in June at age 59, play-by-play announcer Adam Amin called the first quarter of the game solo, leaving the seat next to him vacant. A crown and one of King’s playing cards were placed on the empty chair as a tribute.

King served as a Bulls TV analyst for over 20 years and was a former player for the franchise. The team also wore uniforms featuring a black band with King’s name, utilizing a microphone icon in place of the letter ‘I’.

Following the first quarter, analyst Robbie Hummel rejoined Amin for the broadcast. The Bulls plan to use a rotation of analysts throughout the season and intend to hold further commemorations during their upcoming home opener against the Washington Wizards.
