Chicago Cubs adjust rotation for Edward Cabrera's return
The Chicago Cubs are adjusting their pitching rotation to accommodate the return of Edward Cabrera from the injured list. Cabrera, who has been sidelined for over a month with a hamstring injury, is expected to be activated this weekend and will start the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals.
To make room for Cabrera in the rotation, the Cubs are moving veteran southpaw David Peterson to the bullpen. Peterson has been effective as a starter since joining the team via trade, posting a 2.29 ERA in eight starts when excluding one outlier performance. Additionally, Javier Assad is being moved to Triple-A to facilitate these roster changes.
