Chicago Fire FC announces multiple midfield signings

Chicago Fire FC has announced several key roster moves following the close of the transfer window. The club signed USA Under-23 international Johan Gomez from German side Eintracht Braunschweig. Gomez, 25, has signed a contract through the 2028-29 season with a club option for 2029-30.

Additionally, the club secured midfielder Philip Zinckernagel on a Designated Player contract through the 2027-28 season. Zinckernagel previously recorded double digits in both goals and assists for the club in a single season.

In another acquisition, Chicago Fire FC acquired Georgian midfielder Anzor Mekvabishvili from Romanian club Universitatea Craiova. The 25-year-old midfielder, who has won multiple titles in Romania and Georgia, has signed a contract through the 2028-29 season, including a club option for 2029-30.

To facilitate these moves, the club also sent defender Viktor Radojevic to CF Montreal on loan through the end of 2026.
