Robert Lewandowski led the Chicago Fire to a 2-1 victory over Orlando City in a Major League Soccer match that was significantly delayed by severe weather. The game was interrupted for nearly two hours due to lightning before resuming.

Puso Dithejane opened the scoring for Chicago in the 4th minute, assisted by David Poręba, who also made his MLS debut. Orlando City equalized in the 52nd minute when David Brekalo headed in a corner delivered by Antoine Griezmann.

In the 69th minute, Lewandowski secured the win by converting a penalty kick after being fouled by Robin Jansson. This marked Lewandowski’s third goal in the MLS. The victory extends Chicago Fire’s winning streak to six matches across all competitions, placing them third in the Eastern Conference.

Following the match, 23-year-old David Poręba, a Chicago native, praised the experience of playing alongside Lewandowski, describing it as a dream come true. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona sporting director Deco noted the difficulty of replacing Lewandowski’s impact following his departure to the United States.
