Robert Lewandowski nets brace in Chicago Fire home debut

Robert Lewandowski scored two goals – in the 20th and 68th minutes – to give Chicago Fire a 2‑1 victory over Charlotte FC at Soldier Field on 2 August 2026. The win moved the Fire to fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 29 points after 17 matches.

The Polish striker was named player of the match and dedicated both goals to his late father. Coach Gregg Berhalter praised him as “dynamic, intelligent and a killer in the penalty area”, while Lewandowski said he is very satisfied with life in Chicago and the club’s organization. His wife Anna Lewandowska shared the highlights on social media.

The performance marked Lewandowski’s first home appearance for Chicago Fire and was hailed as a spectacular debut by stadium announcer Tim Sinclair and various media outlets.
