Chicago man arrested with machine gun hidden in car door

Devonte Matticx, a 31-year-old man with a prior felony conviction for armed robbery, was arrested in Chicago's Loop after police discovered a machine gun hidden in his vehicle.

During a traffic stop on East Wacker Drive involving a Jeep Cherokee, officers noted that Matticx had heavily tinted windows and appeared extremely nervous. Upon inspecting the vehicle, police discovered a loose power window switch panel. Lifting the panel revealed a hidden compartment containing a loaded Glock .40-caliber handgun equipped with a machine gun switch.

Matticx previously served an eight-and-a-half-year prison sentence for a 2011 armed robbery. He was detained following the discovery of the illegal firearm.
