Chicago Marathon features charity runners and student participants
The 48th annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon took place on October 11, starting and finishing in Grant Park and passing through 29 Chicago neighborhoods. While the event is a competitive race, many participants utilize the charity route to raise funds for various causes.
Several Loyola University students participated in the event through charitable organizations. Students Abi Decker and Emily Walz ran in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Additionally, student Lorenzo Devettori participated in the half marathon with Achilles International, a nonprofit that pairs volunteers with people with disabilities to ensure they can participate safely in the race.
