Seattle food festival shooting kills three, wounds five including toddler

On the evening of July 27, 2026, gunfire erupted at Seattle Center near the Space Needle during the annual Bite of Seattle food festival. Police say two shooters exchanged fire; one young suspect was taken into custody while a second remains at large.

Three victims – two men aged 19 and 44 and a 56‑year‑old woman – died, two at the scene and one later at Harborview Medical Center. Four other people were injured, among them a two‑year‑old boy; all injured were treated at Harborview or UW Medical Center and were reported in stable condition.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson thanked first‑responders and ordered the city flag at the Space Needle to be lowered to half‑staff. Police, fire crews and federal agents locked down the Seattle Center area and urged the public to avoid the venue while the investigation continues.
