Chicago Mayor Johnson releases FY27 budget proposal

Mayor Johnson has released the administration’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2027. The City Council is scheduled to begin budget hearings next week to review the recommendations.

The hearing schedule includes sessions on finance, infrastructure, public safety, economic development, and social services. Specific departments slated for review include the Chicago Police Department, the Chicago Fire Department, and the Department of Transportation, among others.
