Chicago to host life-size Siskel and Ebert sculpture
A life-size bronze sculpture of film critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert is being planned for Chicago to honor their lasting legacy. The project is being driven by local producer Pam Kasper, who aims to recognize the duo's influence despite their national fame.
Siskel served as the Chicago Tribune’s primary film critic for 30 years until 1999, while Ebert worked for the Chicago Sun-Times for 46 years until 2013. The initiative seeks to raise $230,000 through partnerships with Chicago Gateway Green, corporate sponsorships, and public donations.
To fund the project, a Hollywood memorabilia auction will be held featuring items such as a signed apron from the cast of ‘The Bear’, a signed ‘Toy Story’ doll from John Cusack, and memorabilia from Bill Murray. The sculpture is expected to be completed by 2028.
