Chicago White Sox acquire Tommy Pham and Jake Cave

The Chicago White Sox have bolstered their outfield depth by acquiring two veteran players in separate trades for cash considerations.

On Monday, the White Sox acquired 38-year-old outfielder Tommy Pham from the Philadelphia Phillies. Pham, who previously played for the White Sox in 2024, is expected to join the major league roster when it expands on September 1. Manager Will Venable noted that Pham provides a necessary right-handed bat to counter left-handed pitching.

In a second move, the White Sox acquired outfielder Jake Cave from the Tampa Bay Rays. Like Pham, Cave was on a minor league deal and was not on a 40-man roster, making him eligible for trade after the August deadline. Both players are eligible for the postseason roster as they joined the club before the September 1 cutoff.
