Chicago White Sox Add Veteran Catcher Eric Haase on Minor League Deal

The Chicago White Sox signed 33‑year‑old catcher Eric Haase to a minor‑league contract and assigned him to the Triple‑A Charlotte Knights. Haase was released by the San Francisco Giants after appearing in 29 games for them this season, posting a .162/.235/.365 slash line over 84 plate appearances.

Haase brings depth to Chicago’s catching corps, which has been thin since the injury to rookie Kyle Teel. He will share time with Edgar Quero, Korey Lee and Michael Turner in Charlotte and could be called up to the major‑league roster if injuries arise before the trade deadline. The veteran previously spent parts of nine MLB seasons with teams including the Giants, Brewers, Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers, posting a career .224/.276/.394 line.
