Chicago White Sox begin AL playoffs amid announcer uncertainty

The Chicago White Sox are beginning their American League postseason campaign against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. Following a Wild Card victory over the Houston Astros, the White Sox face the Guardians, who secured home-field advantage after finishing the season with an 85-77 record.

Amidst the team's playoff run, uncertainty surrounds the future of play-by-play announcer John Schriffen. His contract with the Chicago Sports Network is set to expire at the end of the year. Reports indicate that while team executives previously supported Schriffen, the network's leadership has reportedly begun exploring potential replacements, and no recent discussions regarding a contract extension have taken place.
