Chicago White Sox evaluate offseason priorities following postseason exit

Following a successful 2026 season that ended a streak of three consecutive 100-loss seasons, the Chicago White Sox are assessing roster needs ahead of 2027. Despite reaching the postseason and defeating the Houston Astros in the Wild Card Series, the team was eliminated in the American League Division Series by the Cleveland Guardians.

General Manager Chris Getz addressed the team's performance and trade deadline strategy during an end-of-season press conference. Getz defended his decision not to trade top-tier prospects for short-term rentals, stating, “I don't have any regrets because, truthfully, I was looking to do more. And I didn't want to mortgage the future.”

Key areas for improvement include strengthening starting pitching and managing prospect integration. While the team acquired Luis Castillo at the deadline to address pitching needs, the postseason collapse has highlighted the necessity of balancing youth development with veteran experience. Getz also announced that the full coaching staff will return for the upcoming season.
