Chicago White Sox part ways with play-by-play announcer John Schriffen

The Chicago White Sox have announced they are moving on from play-by-play announcer John Schriffen. Following the conclusion of his three-year deal after the 2026 season, the organization declined to exercise a fourth-season option.

Brooks Boyer, the White Sox chief revenue and marketing officer, released a statement praising Schriffen as a “true professional” who brought “energy, enthusiasm, and a distinctive style” to the broadcasts. Boyer noted that the decision was made to evaluate the future direction of the team's broadcasts.

This marks the second time in three years the organization has sought a new play-by-play announcer, following the departure of Jason Benetti. The Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) is expected to begin an extensive national search for a replacement.
