Chicago woman celebrates son after 20 pregnancy losses
Ranim Haddad, a woman from Chicago, is celebrating her son Emmanuel’s first birthday after an 11-year struggle with repeated pregnancy losses. Over the course of more than a decade, Haddad experienced 20 miscarriages and the death of a son born prematurely at 29 weeks.
Despite exhaustive medical investigations, specialists including maternal-fetal medicine expert Dr. Susan Gerber were unable to identify a specific medical cause for the repeated losses. In her final pregnancy, doctors utilized a cervical cerclage to prevent premature birth. Haddad has shared her story to encourage other women facing similar challenges, aiming to reduce the isolation and shame often associated with pregnancy loss.
