Chichén Itzá launches English language program for tour guides

The Secretariat of Tourism Promotion (Sefotur) and the Cultur Board have launched an English language diploma program for tour guides at Chichén Itzá. The initiative aims to professionalize the tourism sector in Yucatán and improve service quality for both national and international visitors.

The training will benefit 86 guides, with instruction tailored to their specific proficiency levels. This program is part of a broader effort, including the 2026 Integral Tourism Training and Competitiveness Program, which plans to reach over 3,700 service providers across 25 municipalities through 114 courses, supported by a state investment of 5.8 million pesos. The diploma will be taught by the Universidad de Oriente (UNO).
