Chick-fil-A will remain closed on Independence Day, continuing a longstanding tradition that gives employees a day off to celebrate with family. The policy stems from founder S. Truett Cathy’s religious belief in reserving Sundays and major holidays for rest and worship, a practice the company has maintained for decades.

The fast‑food chain is privately held by the Cathy family. Andrew T. Cathy, a grandson of the founder, serves as chief executive officer, while Dan T. Cathy is chairman. Other family members hold senior roles, including Donald “Bubba” Cathy as executive vice‑president and Trudy Cathy White as brand ambassador. Franchise operators run individual restaurants under a low‑fee model, but ownership of the national brand stays within the family.
