Chiclana announces new sculptures for Phoenician Origin Route

The Chiclana City Council has announced the second phase of the 'Chiclana Phoenician Origin Route,' a project aimed at promoting the town's 3,000-year history through urban art. The initiative involves the installation of four new monumental sculptures, each exceeding two meters in height, created by sculptor Antonio Mota.

The new figures include the Phoenician goddess Astarté, the Carthaginian general Hannibal Barca, Alexander the Great, and Julius Caesar. These works will follow the same aesthetic and technical style as the existing Melkart sculptures from the first phase. The sculpture of Astarté is scheduled to be placed near the new river walkway on Reyes Católicos Avenue.

The project has a budget of 75,988 euros, funded through the MUNITUR grant for Andalusian Tourist Municipalities. The installations are expected to be completed before the end of the year to enhance the city's historical landscape and tourism appeal.
