Chiclana's historic centre lights up with 7,000 candles for fourth Noche de las Velas Fenicias
The historic centre of Chiclana in southern Spain will host the fourth edition of the Noche de las Velas Fenicias. More than 7,000 candles will illuminate streets from Calle Rosa, where the Nueva Gadeira Phoenician interpretation centre is located, to Plaza de España, passing the Arquillo del Reloj and the area around the Cerro del Castillo.
Five local musical groups will perform at various points along the route, adding a cultural soundtrack to the illuminated walk. Organisers, led by Sustainable Tourism delegate Manuela Pérez, say the event aims to highlight Chiclane's Phoenician heritage, attract visitors and boost commerce and hospitality in the historic district.
