Chico Mendes Reserve marijuana plantation destroyed by police
The Polícia Civil discovered a large marijuana plantation within the Chico Mendes Extractive Reserve in the state of Acre. The cultivation area spanned approximately one hectare and contained an estimated 2,000 plants.
The discovery was made during an investigation into an attempted homicide in Brasiléia. Authorities reported that the plantation was located in a difficult-to-access area near the BR-317 highway, requiring a one-hour trek through dense forest.
During the operation, police encountered two individuals watering the plants, but both suspects managed to flee into the woods. Law enforcement collected samples for forensic analysis and subsequently destroyed the remaining plants on-site.
