Chico Pinheiro completes chemotherapy for intestinal cancer

Journalist Chico Pinheiro, 73, has completed his chemotherapy treatment for intestinal cancer. After his final session at the Hospital do Coração (HCor) in São Paulo, Pinheiro celebrated by ringing a traditional victory bell alongside his medical team.

Medical professionals confirmed that recent exams show no further signs of the tumor. The medical staff emphasized that the early detection of the cancer was made possible through a colonoscopy, which they noted was crucial to his survival.

Following his positive news, Pinheiro advocated for expanded access to colonoscopies through Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS). He expressed the hope that the country evolves to ensure all citizens have the right to rapid colonoscopies to prevent serious complications.
