Chidi Amuta celebrates memoir launch in Lagos

Academic and literary critic Chidi Amuta recently held a book presentation in Lagos for his memoir, ‘HOMAGE: Return to Familiar Places’. The event was attended by several prominent Nigerian figures, including former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida and Abia State Governor Alex Otti.

During the presentation, Babangida praised Amuta as a ‘national asset’ and a journalist of international repute whose work has shaped public discourse and inspired patriotism. The memoir is described as a piece of national history that offers insights into the life of a writer from humble beginnings.

Amuta’s work arrives during a period in Nigeria characterized by a surge in memoirs from the older generation. These writings serve as a means for leaders and intellectuals to account for their roles in the nation’s history and to address unresolved concerns regarding the country’s past and future.
