Chidozie Awaziem joins Turkish club Konyaspor

Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem signed a two‑year contract with Turkish Süper Lig side Konyaspor, binding him to the club until June 2028. The 29‑year‑old centre‑back, who also holds Portuguese nationality, left French club FC Nantes, where he had been for a year after a stint in Major League Soccer with Colorado Rapids.

Awaziem returns to Turkey having previously played for Alanyaspor and a number of clubs across Europe, including Porto, Leganés, Boavista, Hajduk Split and Rizespor. The transfer was formalised in a signing ceremony at the Konyaspor Museum, with the player set to wear the number 15 shirt. His experience in Ligue 1, LaLiga, the Portuguese leagues and the Turkish Super Lig is expected to strengthen Konyaspor's defensive options.
