Chidozie Awaziem scores twice as Konyaspor defeat Gençlerbirliği

Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem scored two goals to lead Konyaspor to a 2-0 victory over Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Süper Lig. The win, secured at the Medas Konya Buyuksehir Stadium, ended Konyaspor’s three-match winless streak and moved the team out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Awaziem opened the scoring in the 43rd minute following an assist from Deniz Türüç. He secured his first career brace by scoring again in the 56th minute after a corner from Enis Bardhi. The Konyaspor goalkeeper, Bahadir, maintained a clean sheet by saving a penalty from Gençlerbirliği’s Franco Tongya in the 74th minute.

Awaziem, a former FC Nantes player, has now recorded two goals in seven Süper Lig appearances this season. Following the match, the defender credited the collective effort of his teammates for the result.
