Chidozie Awaziem to join Konyaspor from Nantes for €1 million

Nigerian international defender Chidozie Awaziem, 28, is poised to return to the Turkish Super Lig, signing a two‑year contract with Konyaspor that includes an optional third year. Konyaspor will pay €1 million to French club Nantes to secure the centre‑back, who featured in 26 league matches for the relegated Canaries, scoring once and providing two assists.

Awaziem previously played in Turkey with Çaykur Rizespor and Alanyaspor and spent a season in Major League Soccer with the Colorado Rapids before moving to Nantes last summer. Konyaspor, who finished eighth in the 2025‑26 Turkish Super Lig and were runners‑up in the Turkish Cup, aim to bolster their defence ahead of the 2026‑27 campaign with Awaziem’s experience and leadership.
