Chiechama shooting: Accused in custody as victim remains under observation

An accused individual has been remanded to judicial custody following a shooting incident in Chiechama village on September 16. The suspect, identified by the Chiechama Village Council as 71-year-old Medochülie Zumvü, was arrested by Chiephobozou police and is currently held at the Kohima District Jail.

The victim, 28-year-old Langshe Lomou, was shot in the back and is receiving treatment at a hospital in Kohima. Medical professionals reported that Lomou sustained serious internal injuries, including damage to his kidney, stomach, and a perforation of the colon. While his condition is currently described as stable, doctors noted that the next 48 hours are critical to monitor for potential infections caused by leakage into the abdominal cavity.

Kohima Police confirmed that the bullet recovered from the victim has been preserved as evidence. An investigation is ongoing to examine all relevant aspects of the case.
