Chief Justice Komba Kamanda Honoured for Regional Judicial Leadership

Judges, magistrates and staff of Sierra Leone’s judiciary gathered in Freetown to recognise Chief Justice Hon. Komba Kamanda for completing his term as chairman of the ECOWAS Judicial Council. The ceremony highlighted his role in strengthening Sierra Leone’s standing in West Africa, promoting judicial cooperation, modernising court infrastructure and advancing rule‑of‑law reforms across ECOWAS member states.

Kamanda was also honoured at Ghana’s Supreme Court 150th‑anniversary celebrations in Accra, where he praised the Ghanaian judiciary’s legacy and called the milestone a regional inspiration. He attended a state dinner hosted by Ghana President John Mahama, which also welcomed Gabon’s President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, underscoring growing judicial and diplomatic ties among African nations.
