Chief Justice Surya Kant leads yoga programme at India's Supreme Court

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant took part in a special yoga session organised by the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) on the Supreme Court premises during the International Day of Yoga 2026. The event, held under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” brought together Supreme Court officials, staff and AIIA representatives for exercises aimed at physical and mental well‑being. Earlier in the day AIIA hosted a large yoga camp at its Sarita Vihar campus in Delhi, drawing more than 1,000 participants.

Speaking at the Supreme Court ceremony, the CJI highlighted yoga as a timeless framework for balancing mind, body and spirit and emphasized its relevance for handling the high‑pressure workload of the judiciary. He urged participants to make yoga a regular habit rather than a one‑off observance, noting that even brief breathing or stretching can alleviate stress and support healthy ageing.

The programme also featured a “Yoga Fusion” performance linking yoga with Indian cultural and holistic health traditions.
